Actress Nusrat Faria sent to jail in attempted murder case

DHAKA, May 19, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today sent actress Nusrat Faria to jail in a case filed over the attempted murder of one Enamul Haque in the capital during the July Mass Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque passed the order as police produced Nusrat Faria before the court and pleaded to keep her behind bars till the end of the probe.

Earlier, Immigration Police on May 18 arrested Nusrat Faria from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) while attempting to go to Thailand. She was later handed over to Bhatara Police Station, where Nusrat was shown arrested in the attempted murder case following primary interrogation.

According to the case documents, Enamul joined the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on July 19 in the city's Bhatara area. The rally came under attack, and he was shot in the leg. Enamul was rushed to the nearby hospital, where he received treatment.

Enamul filed the case on May 3 against 283 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
