Met office forecasts light to moderate rain in different parts of country

DHAKA, May 19, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted that light to moderate rain or thunder showers likely to occur at different parts of the country including the capital for the next 24 hours begins from this morning.

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Dhaka division and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions", said the forecast begins from 9am.

Trough of low lies over West Bengal to North Bay across Southwestern part of Bangladesh.

Day temperature may rise by (1-2)oC over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country. Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded 34.5 degrees celsius at Ishurdi and minimum temperature today was recorded 21.5 degrees celsius at Dinajpur.

Country's highest rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 128 millimeters (mm) at Sayedpur.

Today's sunset is at 06-36 PM in the capital and tomorrow's sunrise 05-14 AM.
