Govt working for wellbeing of deprived women: Sharmeen S Murshid

RANGAMATI, May 19, 2025 (BSS) - Social Welfare Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid today said the government has been working to ensure the rights and welfare of deprived women in society.

"All officials and employees of the social welfare department must work sincerely for the welfare and rights of deprived women," she said while exchanging views with social welfare department officials and local dignitaries as the chief guest at the Circuit House here.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin chaired the programme, while Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare Dr Md Mahiuddin, Superintendent of Police Dr Farhad Hossain, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rifat Asma, Deputy Director of the District Social Welfare Department Md Omar Faruque, Family Welfare Officer Dr Baby Tripura, and women leader Nirupama Dewan, among others, were present.

The adviser said the ministry would work to ensure similar rights and facilities for women in the hilly areas as in other districts across the country.

She called upon relevant officials and staff to accelerate the activities of the social welfare and cooperative departments in the hilly districts.
