DHAKA, May 20, 2025 (BSS) - The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced holding a protest rally at 11.00am tomorrow in front of the Election Commission office, demanding taking into account the proposals of the Reform Commission immediately, reconstituting the Election Commission and taking initiatives for local government elections.

The announcement was made by NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain at an emergency press conference held on Tuesday night.

"We urge the interim government to immediately consider the recommendations of the Reform Commission and take decisive steps to restructure the Election Commission and initiate local government elections," Hossain stated.

In a written statement, he criticized the Election Commission's role in recent electoral processes, specifically citing the 2020 Dhaka South City Corporation election.

He alleged that a "complex political situation" has emerged due to an "illegitimate election" and blamed the Election Commission's "biased role" for this situation.

The NCP has called on all concerned citizens to join the rally and support their call for an impartial and reformed electoral process in the country.
