National-Level 'Primary Education Padak 2025' Kicks Off in Capital

DHAKA, May 24, 2025 (BSS) - The sports events of the 'Primary Education Padak Competition 2025' commenced today at the Government College of Physical Education ground in the capital's Mohammadpur. 

Abu Taher Md Masud Rana, Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, inaugurated the event by releasing balloons as the chief guest, said a PID press release. 

Students from government primary schools across all eight divisions, who were selected through competitions at the union, upazila, district, and divisional levels, are participating in the national event.

Today's events included the 100-meter sprint, balance race, arithmetic race, long jump, high jump, and cricket ball throw for both boys and girls. 

Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana distributed prizes among the winners of the 100-meter sprint event.

The Secretary remarked that sports play a crucial role in physical and mental development and in fostering good citizens. He noted that the winners from the grassroots level have demonstrated remarkable courage and skill to reach the national stage, and expressed hope that such competitions would encourage more students to participate in sports and aspire to play at the national level. 

Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Abu Noor Md Shamsuzzaman presided over the event, while Additional Secretary (Development) of the Ministry Noorjahan Khatun, Additional Director General (PEDP-4) Mohammad Atikur Rahman and Director (Policy and Operation) Mohammad Kamrul Hasan were present on the occasion.
