DU administration urges swift justice in Shammo murder case

DHAKA, May 24, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka University (DU) administration has called for the speedy trial and justice in the murder case of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a student of the university's Institute of Education and Research.

DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan today discussed the matter with senior law enforcement officials, said a press release issued by the university's public relations office.

During the discussion, police officials informed the VC that important information had been obtained from the arrested individuals and that it was currently being analyzed, the release said.

The press release also stated that the accused have been placed on a fresh three-day remand for further interrogation. Police assured that the motive behind the murder would be revealed and the perpetrators brought to justice soon.
