DHAK, May 25, 2025 (BSS) – Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said the government has taken all required measures to make sure that the sellers of rawhide of the sacrificial animals get fair price during the Eid-ul-Azha.

“We have taken measures so that the people can get fair prices for the rawhide,” he said today after a meeting on better management of the cattle markets and rawhide selling in his ministry office at Bangladesh Secretariat.

Mentioning that the fair price of the rawhide is the rights of the poor, he said the rawhide of the sacrificial animals are mainly donated to madrasas and orphanages.

“But, they’re not getting fair price for the rawhide,” he said.

The ministries of commerce and industries are long been working to balance between demand and supply in the market aimed at ensuring the fair price of the rawhide during the Eid-ul-Azha.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has taken measures so that all rawhides cannot enter into the market in the capital in a single day.

He also said the government has already given permission for exporting rawhide abroad to ensure their fair price.

The Commerce Ministry has already communicated with China to export rawhide in that country, he added.
