DHAKA, May 25, 2025 (BSS) - The concluding ceremony of bootcamp training of 463 new sailors from the A-2025 batch of the Bangladesh Navy held today with a vibrant parade at the BNS Sher-e-Bangla Parade Ground in Patuakhali.
Adviser to the Ministries of Shipping and Labour and Employment Brig Gen (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hussain graced the colorful event as the chief guest. He inspected the parade, took salute and later distributed awards to the sailors who achieved outstanding results.
Among the new sailors of the A-2025 batch of the Navy, Md. Ghalib Al Mahdi Arnab achieved the highest excellence in professional and all subjects. He won the “Navy Chief Award” as the best sailor. Md Hasib Hossain won the “Kamkhul Award” by securing the second place, while Md Naeem Gazi won the “Sher-e-Bangla Award” by securing the third place, said an ISPR release.
In his address to the new sailors, Sakhawat Hussain gratefully recalled the supreme sacrifice of all the fearless freedom fighters and naval commandos who participated in the war of independence.
He also remembered the martyrs and injured in the July Uprising, whose sacrifices have uplifted the spirit of independence and democratic progress of the country.
The adviser urged all naval personnel, including the new sailors, to be resolute in protecting the sovereignty of the motherland.
He praised the genuine patriotism, relentless efforts and professional excellence of all naval personnel in the progress of the three-dimensional navy.
Sakhawat Hussain hoped that the young sailors will play a leading role in protecting the vast maritime borders of Bangladesh as well as building a strong Bangladesh.
He also hoped that newly inducted sailors will acquire professional skills and excellence in the coming days trough continuous training.
He extended his gratitude to the navy for its recent engagement in providing assistance to the civil administration under the In-Aid-to-Civil Power to maintain the law and order in the country, ensure the overall security of people's lives and property and important government installations.
The adviser congratulated the young sailors for stepping into the proud ranks of the Bangladesh Navy through today's parade.
He called upon them to dedicate themselves with the great responsibility of protecting the independence and sovereignty of the country and to establish the navy in a more glorious position in the world.
The PSOs of the Navy Headquarters, high-ranking military and civil officials, local dignitaries and guardians of the new sailors were present at the parade.
