BSF pushes 153 people into Bangladesh through Sylhet borders

SYLHET, May 25, 2025 (BSS) - Indian Border Security Force (BSF) today pushed 153 individuals into Bangladesh through the Sylhet and Moulovibazar borders, according to the security and law enforcement officials.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members detained 153 people as they were pushed in through the borders.

“We’ve detained 32 people from Nayabazar border of Beanibazar upazila under Sylhet district, 79 from Latu border and 42 from Pallathal border of Borolekha upazila under Moulovibazar district,” BGB-52 Captain Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan told BSS.

After interrogating them, he said, “We have confirmed their identity as Bangladeshi nationals”.
“51 of the 153 people are children, 49 males, and the rest are women. They were handed over to the Beanibazar and Borolekha police stations,” he added.
