DHAKA, May 25, 2025 (BSS) - Chief Adviser's Special Assistant on Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb today said Bangladesh was presented as "Digital Bangladesh" over the past 15 years, but in reality, it has developed into a network of "digital islands".

"In the last 15 years, digital Bangladesh has been branded frequently, but instead, isolated digital islands have been created within the country, and interconnectivity has been established among the islands," he said.

Taiyeb made this remark at the inauguration ceremony of Land Fair-2025 and discussion meeting in the capital's Bhumi Bhaban, said a ministry press release.

Highlighting the ongoing transformation of services in Bangladesh, he noted that the Ministry of Land is leading the way in digital transformation.

"The previously separate digital services of the Ministry of Land will now be integrated into a single platform, accelerating the pace of digital transformation," he said.

Taiyeb explained that this shift is being implemented in two main areas: first, through the transformation of ministries or departments, and second, via a platform called "Citizen Services" - a name chosen by the Chief Adviser.

Land surveys will be conducted using GPS and geo-fencing technology, allowing landowners to view survey activities on Google Earth, if they wish, he said.

He continued that in the next phase, this survey data will be connected to land ownership records, the status of legal cases, and revenue collection details.

As a result, he said, all information regarding a piece of land - including ownership - will be accessible through a single digital gateway with a mapped interface.

"If this initiative is successfully implemented, it will mark the realization of true digitalization," said Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb.

ICT Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, Chairman of Land Reforms Board AJM Salauddin Nagri, and Chairman of Land Appeal Board Muhammad Ibrahim were present.

At the outset, Additional Secretary Md Emdadul Haque Chowdhury made a presentation on the overall activities of the Land Ministry.
