DHAKA, May 25, 2025 (BSS) - The first consignment of Bangladeshi mangoes will be exported to China May 28 (Wednesday).

Commerce Adviser Bashir Uddin and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen will join an event marking the export to be held at the CIP gate of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Wednesday afternoon.

Procedures for importing Bangladeshi jackfruit and guava to China are also ongoing.

"We hope that Bangladesh can soon open up Hilsa exports to China—after all, Chinese foodies can’t wait to enjoy this delicious fish on their dining tables," said the Chinese Ambassador recently.

Meanwhile Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on May 31 to discuss issues of mutual interest and “elevate” Bangladesh-China economic and trade relations to a new level.

The Chinese minister will lead more than 100 Chinese investors.

During his two-day visit, Minister Wentao is likely to meet Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin in addition to his other engagements.

Regarding the visit, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh recently said that it would be the largest-ever business delegation in Bangladesh from China, sending a ‘strong signal’ of openness, cooperation and mutual benefit.
