Met office forecasts light to moderate rain in next 24 hours

DHAKA, May 26, 2025 (BSS) – Light to moderate rain or thundershowers likely to occur at different parts of the country in the next 24 hours begins from this morning.

Met office said thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at a few places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions may experience moderate to heavy rainfall, met office said.

Southwest monsoon has advanced up to Chattogram division and conditions are favourable for further advancement, it said.

A low pressure area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining area by tomorrow (Tuesday).

Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

Country’s maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded 36.5 degree celsius at Feni and minimum temperature today was 23.3 degree celsius at Tetulia.

The highest rainfall during the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 140 millimeters (mm) at Sylhet.
