147 dengue patients hospitalized in 24hrs

DHAKA, June 1, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 147 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.

Of the new cases, Barishal division recorded the highest number with 89 patients. Chattogram reported 20 cases, followed by 13 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 10 in Dhaka division, three in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), nine in Rajshahi, two in Khulna and one in Rangpur.

During the same period, 97 patients were discharged after receiving treatment.

With the latest figures, the total number of dengue cases reported this year has reached 4,492. So far, 23 people have died from the mosquito-borne disease in 2025.

Last year, the total number of cases rose to 1,01,214, while 575 deaths from dengue disease were reported, the DGHS statement added.
