Charyapada revival festival begins in city

DHAKA, July 9, 2025 (BSS)- A three-day Charyapada Revival Festival has begun in the city marking a twelfth anniversary of the Charyapada song.

The festival is being held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy seminar room and studio theater hall. The festival is being held for the second time with the participation of Baul-Fakirs of the country.

Lalon devotee and a young Frenchwoman Deborah Jannat will attend the festival as a guest. Noted Researcher and teacher of Harvard University Dr. Keith Edward Cantú, musician, singer and trainer of Charyapada Srijoni Tania and Charyapada singer Babul Akhter Baccu will also join the occasion.

Eminent Poet and columnist Farhad Mazhar, Ekhusey Padak recipient and noted educationist Dr Sukomal Barua and Professor Jinobodhi Bhikkhu will address the concluding session on Friday.

The inaugural function of the festival will be divided into four sessions. Two sessions will be held at Suhrawardi Uddyan at 4.30pm and 5.00pm. The third session will be held at 5.45pm at Shilpakala Academy seminar room while the fourth session will be held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy theater hall at 7pm.

On the second day, a music-seminar will be held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy seminar room at 3.30 pm where the devotee singers of Bangladesh Charyapada Revival Festival will participate.

Lalon devotee, poet and singers from different parts of the country will join the festival.

On the third day a training workshop on Charyapada song, a spiritual and literary heritage of Bengali culture, originated in 6th-12th century in Bengal, will be held at studio theater of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at 3pm.
