DHAKA, July 12, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman said the main target of the force is to achieve the trust of the people through their intense work.

"RAB will be the real friend of the people and a symbol of trust. Gaining public trust is main task of it," he said while exchanging views with journalists at the RAB Media Centre in the capital's Kawran Bazar.

The RAB chief made the remarks while briefing the media on the force's recent successes, including unearthing the mystery behind a brutal wife murder case in Chattogram and arresting suspects in the killing of scrap metal trader Sohag in Dhaka's Mitford area.

He hoped that RAB will perform their duties with utmost sincerity in maintaining the law and order, protect human rights, ensure security of every citizen and identify the criminals and bring them to book.

"RAB alongside other law enforcement agencies have been working tirelessly to maintain the country's law and order," he said.

Mentioning the arrests made by the RAB in the case of brutally killing of a metal scrap trader Sohag and arrest of the main accused in the case of brutally killing his wife and dismembering her into 11 pieces in Chittagong, he said RAB have been successfully performing their duties.

He also said that RAB has so far brought about 20 criminals under the law for the crime of creating mob violence.

Seven accused have been arrested recently by RAB in the case of women and children abuse, he said.

'We were able to arrest the main accused Shah Paran and six other accused in the case of molestation and torture of a woman in Cumilla on July 3 last," he added.
