BAGERHAT, July 12, 2025 (BSS) - Health Services Division Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman today said the emergency department is very important for hospitals as it provides primary treatment to patients.

“Doctors and nurses will always have to be prepared in the department. This is very challenging for the health department. We appeal to everyone to be sincere to ensure this service,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a view-sharing meeting on community involvement in health services held at the Bagerhat 250-bed District Hospital premises.

Bagerhat Sadar Hospital does not have MRI and CT scan machines. These two big machines will be provided to the hospital very soon, he said.

If doctors and nurses are available, the ICU service will be started again in the hospital, he said, adding that shortage of doctors in the hospital will be fulfilled.

Khulna Health Department Director Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman presided over the meeting.

It was addressed, among others, by Health Department Director General Professor Dr. Md. Abu Jafar, former secretary Dr. Md. Mashiur Rahman, BNP central committee research secretary Krishibid Shamimur Rahman, Dr. Md. Faridul Islam, 250-bed District Hospital superintendent Dr. Asim Kumar Samadder, social worker Rafiqul Islam Jaglu, District BNP convener ATM Akram Hossain Talim and former president MA Salam.

‎Earlier, the health secretary Md. Saidur Rahman inspected the hospital and inaugurated the new operation complex. ‎ ‎Later in the afternoon, the official visited the free medical service camp of the Latif Master Foundation in Beshargati area of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila and a private clinic in the district town.
