DHAKA, July 23, 2025 (BSS) – A medical team of Singapore General Hospital today visited the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) to provide treatment to the injured in the aircraft crash into the Milestone School and College in the Capital’s Uttara on Monday.
Director of the NIBPS Professor Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin informed the media of the matter in a press briefing in the institute this afternoon.
“The medical team of Singapore will observe the patients for a few more days. The doctors reviewed the each case of injuries separately and gave important decisions,” he said.
“As the condition of the patients is changing every hour, the medical team will review the treatment in every 12 hours and treatment will continue according to that decision,” he said.
Replying to a question, Dr. Nasir Uddin said they are yet to discuss with the Singaporean medical team about their stay in Bangladesh for treatment purpose.
About sending the injured persons abroad for treatment, he said, no decision has yet been taken in this regard.
So far 44 injured persons were admitted to the institute, he said adding that the patients were divided in several categories.
Eight patients have been classified as critical, 13 kept in CBR (Complete Bed Rest) and 23 are in the intermediate category, he said.
In the small hours of today, a nine-year old boy Nafis succumbed to his burn injuries at the NIBPS, taking the death toll to 29.
According to the updated information till 4:50 today provided by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) total death toll in the aircraft crash has risen to 29 while 69 injured are undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
The health ministry sources said Nafis breathed his last at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the NIBPS around 12:15am today.
Nafis died today a day after his sister succumbed to her burn injuries in the same institute.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) on Tuesday so far 31 were killed and 165 injured in the jet crash.
