DHAKA, July 24, 2025 (BSS) – The online admission process for Class-XI students in government and private colleges for 2025-26 academic year will begin from July 30 on the basis of results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or equivalent examinations as no admission test will be accepted.

Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education issued a notification in this regard today saying applications will start from July 30 and will continue until August 11.

Students who have passed the SSC or equivalent examinations in the current academic year and within the previous two years will be considered eligible for admission.

In the case of foreign boards, admission can be granted only after the Dhaka Education Board sets the standards and approves it.

In terms of group selection, students in the science group can apply for any group (science, humanities and business studies).

However, students in the business studies and humanities groups will not get the opportunity to get admission in the science group.

Students who have passed SSC or Dakhil Vocational from Madrasah and Technical Education Boards can apply for admission to any group of the General Education Board.

Ninety three percent of the total seats in government and private colleges will be open to all students.

Out of the remaining 7 percent, 5 percent will be reserved for the children of freedom fighters or martyred freedom fighters, 1 percent for the children of officials and employees of the Ministry of Education, and 1 percent for the children of officials of subordinate departments and organizations.

However, if no eligible candidates are found in the reserved quota, those seats will be admitted on the basis of merit.

The merit order will be determined by looking at the total marks obtained in the case of candidates with equal GPA.

If the marks are also equal, then the marks of Mathematics, Biology and English in the case of Science group and English, Mathematics and Bengali in the case of Humanities and Business Studies Group will be taken into consideration in turn.

Students who have passed SSC from the same school and college will be able to get admission in the designated group in their own college on priority basis.

In that case, after filling the seats in the concerned group, outside students can be admitted in the remaining seats. The admission process should be completed fully online and all information related to admission should be published on the colleges' own websites and notice boards.

The admission fee will be determined by the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and will be published in the form of a notification subject to the approval of the Secondary and Higher Education Department.

No additional money can be accepted in addition to the approved fee and no fee can be accepted without a receipt.

However, although there is an opportunity to change colleges after admission, there will be no opportunity to return to the science group from another group. Similarly, if any student is admitted to the science group, he or she will not be able to return to the science group later.

At the same time, no college can issue a TC to a student without the permission of the board and admission to another institution cannot be taken by showing that TC.

Information regarding the issuance and acceptance of TCs must be submitted to the board within 15 days, subject to the board's permission.

The policy also states that if a college is not approved or conducts admission activities in any subject on an unapproved campus, initiatives will be taken to cancel their recognition and MPO. In the case of government colleges, if the truth of the policy violation is found, action will be taken as per the rules.
