RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, July 25, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Saudi Arabia on Friday hailed as "historic" French President Emmanuel Macron's announcement that France would recognise the state of Palestine, and urged other countries to follow suit.

"The kingdom praises this historic decision, which reaffirms the international community's consensus on the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state," the Saudi foreign ministry said in a statement.
