DSCC conducts special anti-mosquito, cleanliness drives

DHAKA, July 26, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) today conducted a special anti-mosquito drive and cleanliness operation at ward number 71 and 72 under zone-7 of its jurisdiction.

The DSCC conducted this special drive with its over 600 workers as part of its month long programme commemorating last year's July mass uprising. Secretary of the Local Government Division of the LGRD Ministry Md Rezaul Maksud Jahedi was present at the event as the chief guest.

DSCC Administrator Md Shahjahan Miah along with over 600 workers started the special drive at Green Model Town and Manda areas from 6 in the morning. 

As part of the drive, they cleaned the drains, water bodies and footpaths and sprayed medicines for killing mosquitoes. They also held a rally with the participation of local people, Red Crescent members and members of the BD Clean for creating awareness among the people.

During the drive, Local Government Secretary told the journalists that the special cleanliness drive was launched for creating awareness among the people and its positive impact is already evident in society.

This drive will play a vital role in improving relations between the city dwellers and the city corporation officials and formulating regional development plans in future, the secretary added.

DSCC Administrator Md Shahjahan Miah said that the main objective of the drive is to ensure empowerment of local people through their involvement. The citizens are the main partner in the anti-mosquito drive and this zone-wise drive would be continued, he added.

Among others, DSCC Chief Executive Officer Md Zahirul Islam, its Secretary Md Shafiqul Islam and all heads of different departments were present at that time.
