Milestone tragedy: two burn victims discharged, 10 others by next week

DHAKA, July 26, 2025 (BSS) - The National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) today discharged two burn victims and planned to release 10 others in phases by next week.

Director of the institute Professor Dr Nashir Uddin informed media of the matter in a press briefing in front of emergency department of the health facility this afternoon.

The two students, Rafsi Akhter Rafia (12) and Ayan Khan (12) were discharged from the burn institute this afternoon.

Prof Nasir Uddin said 36 burn victims are now taking treatment at the institute and four of them are in critical condition at the Intensive Care 
Unit (ICU).

Nine others people have been kept in the CBR (complete bed rest) category while the remaining others are taking treatment at various wards. 

He also said they are planning to discharge 10 more people in phases within next week

Earlier on 21st July, a fighter jet of the air force slammed into a two storey building of the Milestone School and College due to mechanical fault 
minutes after taking off after 1pm, killing 35 so far and injured scored others.
