BNP’s income was Taka 15.65cr in 2024: audit report

DHAKA, July 27, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today submitted a one-year audit report from January 1 to December 31, 2024, to the Election Commission.

According to the audit report submitted by BNP, the party's income in 2024 was Taka 15,65, 94, 842. Expenditure was Taka 4,804, 820. There is a surplus of Taka 10, 85,90,019.

A delegation led by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed submitted the party’s financial income and expenditure statement to EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.

Upon submitting the report, Rizvi told reporters they also mentioned the source of income in the report as monthly subscription of the National Executive Committee, book sales, donations from various individuals and organizations and interest earned from banks. 

The expenses are financial donations to various individuals, distribution of relief to flood-affected areas in various districts, printing of posters and leaflets, hall rental for various public meetings and discussions, printing of supplements in newspapers, Iftar mahfil during Ramadan and various official expenses.

Earlier in 2023, BNP showed an income of Taka 1,10,80,151 and expenditure was Taka 3,65,23 970.

In 2022, BNP showed an income of Taka 5,92,04 632. The expenditure was Taka 3,88,33,803.

Parties registered under the Representation of the People Order (RPO) are required to submit a report on the financial transactions of the previous calendar year by July every year.

This time, the EC has sent letters to 50 registered parties, except for the Awami League (registration suspended), asking them to submit audit reports. The parties have been asked to submit their accounts for the period from January 1 to December 31, 2024, by July 31.

According to the law, if a party fails to submit its income and expenditure accounts for three consecutive years, its registration will be cancelled.
