DHAKA, July 27, 2025(BSS) - Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter today said that a new Bangladesh would be built, paying respect to the sacrifices of the deceased and injured July warriors.

"The July warriors did not join the anti-discrimination movement for their personal gains," she said, addressing "July upsurge revival, reminiscence and discussion-2025" at Gano Biswabidyalaya, Savar, here as chief guest.

Chaired by the Dean of the Arts and Social Science Faculty of the university Prof Nilufar Sultana, the function was attended by Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof Dr Md Abul Hossain as the special guest.

The thoughts of the July warriors were high and they joined the movement loving the country, the adviser said, adding: "July is a painful month for us and the recent Milestone tragedy has intensified our sorrows."

Farida Akhter said she visited many places during last year's upsurge and also joined some programmes at that time.

Recalling the courageous and organized participation of the students of the Gano Biswabidyalay in last year's movement, she said the leadership of Dr Zafarullah Chowdhury had definitely influenced them to join the movement.

Highlighting the contribution of women in the movement, Farida Akhter said women were in the front line in the movement in July, but it had reduced in August. "We have to remember that the movement has not yet ended," she added.

The adviser urged the students to be careful about different types of techniques of neighboring countries and international fascist forces, saying that political and social awareness is very essential in this regard.
