ID card must for voting in JUCSU, Hall Students’ Union polls

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, July 27, 2025 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University authorities have announced that valid identification will be mandatory for casting votes in the upcoming JU Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) and Hall Students’ Union elections.

The directive follows the recommendations of the JUCSU Election Commission-2025 and has been approved by the university administration, according to a notification issued here this morning. Acting Registrar A B M Azizur Rahman signed the notification.

As per the notification, only regular and registered students will be eligible to cast their votes. 

Voters must present one of the following identity documents prior to receiving their ballot paper. The documents are-a photo ID card issued by the university, a photo-attested library card signed by the respective hall provost, or a hall index card signed by the hall provost.

Students who did not collect the documents yet, have been asked to obtain them from the appropriate authorities before the polling date, it added.

Earlier, on June 27, JU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan announced September 11 as the tentative date of JUCSU and Hall Students’ Union polls at a view exchange meeting with student representatives from various departments, institutes and leaders of different student organisations.
