DHAKA, July 27, 2025 (BSS) - All the committees of Anti-Discrimination Students Movement except Central Committee have been suspended today.

Former Coordinator and President of the ADSM Central Committee Rifat Rashid made the announcement at a press conference in front of the National Museum here today.

Rifat Rashid said, "The activities of all committees across the country, except the central committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, have been suspended as per the decision of the organogram."

Noting the reason of making such decision, he said that the defeated forces are using this platform in various ways to taint the anti-discrimination banner.

He called upon the law enforcement agencies to take legal action against those who commit immoral acts.

The announcement of the suspension of all committees of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement came after allegations of extortion were raised against Abdur Razzak Riyad, the acting Convener of the United Private University Students' Movement, who visited former MP Shammi Ahmed's Gulshan residence.

The police appealed for a 10-day remand of four people including Riyad, who were arrested in the incident.

The case investigating officer and Gulshan Police Inspector (Investigation) Mokhlesur Rahman filed the application on Sunday. The matter will be heard at the Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka.
