DHAKA, July 27, 2025 (BSS)- Advisor to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui has said July is important for the existence of all of us. July must be preserved.

"July is a struggle and we have to create a collective narrative about this struggle. If we cannot do this, then one day these stories of ours will be lost," he said.

Farooki said this while speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the International Conference on The July Revolution ICJR-1, 2025 and cultural programme jointly organized by Research and Integrated Thought (RIT) and the Department of Political Science, Dhaka University, today.

The adviser said, "We are trying to create a narrative about the July Uprising on behalf of the government. But these are not official at all. If you see our work, you will understand this."

He said, "We are trying to increase the amount of our work in this field. However, it is not possible to do so much work in a short time. So I believe that those who come after us will continue this work."

The drama Lal-July (Red July) was staged at the event.

Speaking as a special guest Abu Sadiq Kayem, former president of Dhaka University Chhatra Shibir, said, "July is our wealth. I have to preserve this wealth. July must be sustained in all spheres, including cultural, intellectual and academic.

“A narrative must be created about July and made more relevant and today's event is part of this effort,” he said.
