Poddar underlines parents’ role to promote primary education

DHAKA, July 28, 2025 (BSS) - Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar today urged parents to share responsibilities with teachers for improving primary education quality.

“I hope along with teachers, parents will play their due role in improving the quality of primary education,” he said while opening eight new buildings of government primary schools.

He urged all concerned to lay emphasis on practice of the mother language and mathematics.

The government constructed the buildings under a project to develop aesthetic school infrastructures in the capital.

The adviser called the schools as community assets which required community responsibility for their maintenance to ensure proper school environment.

Director General of Department of Primary Education Abu Noor Md Shamsuzzaman presided over the programme.

Secretary of the Primary and Mass Education Abu Taher Md Masud Rana and Chief Engineer of Local Government Engineering Department Md Abdur Rashid Miah were present as special guests.

Director of Project for Establishment and Infrastructure Development of Government Primary Schools in Dhaka Metropolitan City and Purbachal Md Saifur Rahman delivered the welcome speech.
