Govt to fill vacant posts of pry head-teachers soon

DHAKA, July 29, 2025 (BSS) - The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has taken an initiative to fill the vacant posts of head-teachers in primary schools immediately to accelerate the educational activities of government primary schools. 

To this end, the ministry has already sent the demand letter to the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) Secretariat and the BPSC will soon publish a recruitment notice to fill the vacant post of head-teachers.

According to the sources of the ministry, there are 65,502 approved head-teacher posts against 65,569 government primary schools across the country and currently a total of 31,396 head teachers are working.

Currently, there are a total of 34,106 vacant head-teacher posts and out of the posts, 2,647 are directly employable posts.

Thus, the ministry has taken initiative to reserve 10 percent from the directly employable posts and recruit the remaining 2,382 posts under independent direct requirement. 

Besides, 31,459 posts eligible for promotion from assistant teachers to head-teachers will be filled through promotion as soon as Civil Appeal Case No. 73/2023 regarding the gradation of nationalized teachers is resolved.
