7 DU students awarded 'Prof Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman Trust Fund' scholarships

DHAKA, July 29, 2025 (BSS) - Seven students of the Department of Mathematics of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded the 'Professor Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman Trust Fund' scholarship for their outstanding academic achievements. 

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan handed over the cheques for the scholarship to the students at a function at the Vice-Chancellor's conference room today, said a press release. 

Dean of Faculty of Science Professor Dr Abdus Salam, Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics Professor Shapla Shirin, Institute of Education and Research Professor Dr Md Abdul Halim, Department of Mathematics Professor Dr Mohammad Riazuddin Mollah and Amena Akhter and wife of late Professor Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman, among others, were present at the event.

The VC congratulated the students, saying such scholarships are a great achievement in the educational life of students. 

He also paid deep respect to late Professor Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman. 

Ex Professor of the Department of Mathematics Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman formed this trust fund on November 16, 2022 with Taka 40 lakh. 

Md Fardin Hasan, Md Simanto, Israt Yasmin Eva, Jannati Khatun, Md. Abdullah Shadid Chowdhury, Sharmin Parvin and Shakib Al Helal have received the 'Professor Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman Trust Fund' scholarship this year.
