DHAKA, July 29, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today called upon the sub-inspectors (SIs) and probationary sub inspectors (PSI) to enhance the quality of investigation aimed at increasing the conviction rate.

"Investigation is a complex but important task. You have to pay special attention to completing the investigation process fairly and justly. Currently, the conviction rate is low compared to the charge sheets submitted to the courts. The quality of investigation has to be improved to increase this rate. If necessary, advice from senior officers or experts should be taken," he said.

He was addressing an important briefing session for  SIs and PSIs working in various departments of the DMP with the aim of increasing the accountability, professionalism and quality of service of the police force towards the city residents at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh here.

At the beginning of the briefing to SIs and PSIs, the DMP Commissioner paid deep respect to the July martyrs and said you are the backbone of the police force.

“The reputation of Bangladesh Police depends on your work. Your role in establishing direct communication with the common people and providing them with services is very important,” he said.

Out of the 2,344 SIs working in the DMP, 450 participated in the briefing in the first phase.

To further improve the quality of police services for the city residents, DMP Commissioner will periodically provide briefings to all sub-inspectors and probationary sub-inspectors.
