DHAKA, July 29, 2025 (BSS) — Highlighting the vital roles played by teachers and parents in the successful results of students' SSC and HSC exams, Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar called upon students to express their gratitude by presenting flowers to them.
He made this call while delivering speech as the chief guest at the award-giving ceremony for the best-performing students of the secondary and higher secondary level for the years 2022 and 2023, held at the conference room of the International Mother Language Institute.
The event was organized by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education under the Performance-Based Grants for Secondary Institutions (PBGSI) scheme.
Mentioning the students and teachers as the major stakeholders in the education sector, the Education Adviser said that students may have numerous expectations from the state, and the fair and just demands should be presented to the government without causing public inconvenience.
He noted that the state’s resources are significantly limited and must be used appropriately and strategically to solve prevailing problems. CR Abrar urged citizens to actively contribute to implementing necessary initiatives when needed by the state.
Pointing out that parents often compete to enroll their children in a few reputed schools, he said if all schools in the country can be developed to a standard level, such competition can be eliminated.
The adviser shared the vision to develop educational institutions where students find an attractive environment that meets their needs. These institutions will host clubs for diverse events that nurture students’ talents.
Additionally, opportunities for education will be ensured for marginalized populations, different small communities, residents of char (river island) areas, and Urdu-speaking individuals living in camps, he said, adding that special facilities will also be available for students with special needs.
He continued that a system must be adopted so that parents can feel assured when sending their children to school or college.
CR Abrar also mentioned that many parents in the country are reluctant to enroll their children in technical education, despite various reports indicating its importance for employment creation. Therefore, emphasis must be placed on technical education.
With Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Professor Dr. Muhammad Azad Khan in the chair, Technical and Madrasah Education Division Secretary Dr KM Khabirul Islam and Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary (Routine-charge) Md. Mojibur Rahman were present as special guests.
