DHAKA, July 29, 2025 (BSS) – Food Adviser Ali Imam Majumdar has said Bangladesh has a target to build an equitable, resilient and nutrition-sensitive food system by addressing challenges that are inclusive and consistent with global commitments, said a ministry press release .

He made the remarks while addressing a function as a panel discussant on the sideline of the UN Food System (UNFSS+4) Summit in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.

Describing the journey of transforming Bangladesh's food system is ambitious, the adviser said, “From achieving self-sufficiency in our food production to introducing an integrated nutrition-sensitive policy framework, our achievements are commendable.”

He said, however, challenges remain serious, adding that the farmers are still getting less profit from their production.

Majumdar said, “With only five years left to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, the need for food system transformation is greater than ever.”

The Food Adviser said, Bangladesh is ready to be  partner with South Asian and other Asian countries to share knowledge, tools and practices.

“Our 3FS (food, fibre and fuel) initiative can be a regional model for all,” he said.

He continued: “Transforming the food system is not just about what we grow, but how it nourishes our people, protects our planet and empowers our producers. Bangladesh is fully committed to taking this agenda forward.”
