July revolution shows way to build discrimination free society: JnU VC

DHAKA, July 29, 2025 (BSS) -Jagannath University (JnU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim today said July revolution has shown the way to build a discrimination free society.
 
“But unfortunately, due to some steps, efforts are being made to discredit this achievement which cannot be accepted in any way,” he said. 

The VC   said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the closing and award distribution ceremony of the “July Memorial First Inter-Department Debate Competition 2025” organized by the university’s Social Work Department and under the supervision of the Social Work Debating Club.

Karim said, “We want students to develop into humane and courageous leaders in the light of logic and open-mindedness.”

Earlier, in the final competition between the Department of Pharmacy and the Department of Islamic Studies, the Department of Pharmacy emerged as the champion and the Department of Islamic Studies as the runner-up. 

Tanjim Patwari was elected ‘Debater of the Final’ and Ashikur Rahman Akash was elected ‘Debater of the Tournament’.
 Social Work Department Chairman Prof Dr. Mustafa Hasan  and Jagannath University Debating Society Moderator,  Prof Dr. Muhammad Nurullah spoke at the event. 

Moderator of the club Dr. Bushra Zaman delivered the welcome speech. Club president Nahid Hasan Russell presided over the programme and the general secretary Israt Jahan moderated it
