Youth drowns in pond at Anwara

CHATTOGRAM, August 3, 2025 (BSS): A youth drowned in a pond near Anwara Upazila Health Complex this afternoon.


The deceased was identified as Mohammad Yasin, 19, an inhabitant of Ramu Upazila in Cox's Bazar district. 

According to locals, Yasin worked at Mariam Hotel in front of the Anwara Upazila Health Complex. He went missing while bathing in a pond around 10 am today.  

After an extensive search, the owner of Mariam Hotel and locals finally informed the fire service.   

On receiving the information, the fire service upon finding Yasin's sandals, clothes and soap at the edge of the pond launched an operation and recovered his body from the pond around 1 pm. 

 Anwara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Monir Hossain said that the body has been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
