Bangladesh to enhance relations with ASEAN countries: Farooki

DHAKA, Aug 7, 2025 (BSS) - Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki said today said that the country's longstanding and friendly relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will be further strengthened in the coming years.

"The existing relations among the people of this region are based on history, heritage, culture and religious faiths are deep rooted and long lasting," he told a function at Thai Embassy here as the chief guest. 

The Royal Thai Embassy organized the function marking the ASEAN Day.
 
The cultural affairs adviser said that there are many scopes of expansion of tourism, investment, trade and employment among the countries and it should be utilized properly.

The function was addressed, among others, by High Commissioner of Brunei Haji Haris Bin Haji Othman and Malaysian High Commissioner Mohd Shuhada Othman.

The ASEAN was constituted on August 8, 1967 for making economic progress, social advancement, cultural development and regional peace and stability among the South East Asian countries.
