DHAKA, Aug 08, 2025 (BSS) – In a striking tribute to the martyrs and legacy of the July Uprising, special graffiti are being painted on both ends of the Padma Bridge, at Mawa and Jajira marking July Uprising Day.

The initiative, taken by the Bridge Authority with directive of Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, aims to preserve the enduring memories of July movement, said a press release today.

Bridge Division Secretary and Executive Director of Bangladesh Bridge Authority Mohammad Abdur Rouf visited the sites to inspect the progress of the artwork on Thursday.

Director Altaf Hossain Sheikh, Chief Engineer Kazi Mohammad Ferdaus, other officials from the Bridge Authority and administrative officials accompanied him.

The July Revolution and Uprising remain a defining chapter in Bangladesh’s history, where the sacrifices of brave martyrs and the defiant spirit of the people laid the foundation for freedom, democracy, and civil rights.

These graffiti blend the heroism and democratic ideals of the July uprising with the architectural grandeur of the Padma Bridge, transforming the structure into a living canvas of national memory.

Far beyond aesthetic enhancement, the graffiti serves as a powerful visual narrative to inspire the next generation with the nation’s resilient past.

During the inspection, the Secretary said, “The spirit of the July Uprising and the sacrifice of its martyrs are eternal treasures of our nation. These artworks capture that legacy through a fusion of history and artistic expression.”

Officials said the initiatives will not only inspire art enthusiasts but broader public also, reigniting pride and deepening the collective understanding of Bangladesh’s liberation and democratic journey.
