DHAKA, Aug 8, 2025 (BSS) - Health and Family Welfare Adviser Nurjahan Begum
today urged Chinese medical equipment manufacturers to invest in Bangladesh,
citing the interim government's ongoing reforms to improve the investment
climate.
"We are steadfast in implementing reforms, improving the investment climate,
simplifying the regulatory framework, and ensuring a conducive environment
for business activities. Chinese medicine equipment producing companies can
take the opportunity and invest here," she said.
Belt & Road Healthcare Center organised the daylong event "China-Bangladesh
Health & Medical Advancement Expo" at Hotel Sarina in the city's Banani area.
Nurjahan Begum addressed its inaugural session as the chief guest.
Expressing gratitude to China for its support in Bangladesh's medical sector,
she said the country remained committed to deepening bilateral ties. She
recalled Beijing's prompt assistance during recent emergencies, including
sending a medical team after the Milestone School and College training plane
crash and aiding the injured during last year's anti-discrimination student
movement.
She also noted that a 1,000-bed hospital will be built in Rangpur with
Chinese government funding, along with training for doctors, nurses, and
technicians. In addition, a MoU has been signed to establish a rehabilitation
center for July fighters.
Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen, health officials, medical experts, and visitors
attended the function. Over 10 leading Chinese hospitals participated,
offering services such as on-site and online consultations, visa processing,
translation assistance, and airport pickup to facilitate advanced treatment
for Bangladeshi patients.
