SM Sultan's 101th birth anniversary tomorrow

NARAIL, Aug 9, 2025 (BSS) - The 101st birth anniversary of legendary artist SM Sultan will be observed in Narail tomorrow (Sunday) with due respect.

SM Sultan Foundation and the district administration have organized a daylong programme at the Sultan Complex, including Qurankhwani at 6am, wreath-laying at 9am, and doa mahfil at 9:30am.

Deputy Commissioner and Foundation President Sharmin Akhter Jahan will attend the programme as chief guest.

Born on August 10, 1924, in Masumdia of Narail, Sultan earned global fame for his philosophical artworks depicting rural life. His works were exhibited internationally before gaining recognition at home.

He received the Ekushey Padak (1982), Swadhinata Padak (1993), and was named "Man of Asia" by Cambridge University.

Sultan passed away on October 10, 1994, and was buried at his home in Narail.
