DSCC launches special cleaning, mosquito control drive

DHAKA, Aug 9, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) carried out a special cleaning and mosquito control campaign in Ward No. 66 of Zone-8 today, aiming to curb the spread of mosquito-borne diseases and improve overall sanitation in the areas.

Led by DSCC Administrator Md Shahjahan Mia, more than 600 city corporation workers alongside local residents participated in the drives. The operation included clearing drains, sewers and sidewalks, as well as spraying mosquito repellent in key areas.

To raise public awareness, a rally was organized in collaboration with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and the social volunteer group BD Clean.
 
Community members joined the rally, emphasizing the importance of maintaining cleanliness and preventing Aedes breeding.

During the campaign, DSCC teams inspected several under-construction buildings and found stagnant water containing Aedes larvae. 
Property owners were warned and advised to take immediate action to prevent further breeding.

DSCC Chief Executive Officer Md. Zahirul Islam, Chief Waste Management Officer Md. Mahabubur Rahman Talukder and other DSCC officials and local leaders were present during the campaign.
