DHAKA, Aug 17, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today granted bail to Md Azizur 
Rahman, a rickshaw puller who was arrested from Dhanmondi 32 as a suspect in 
a case.

"As Azizur has no pending case against him, there is no legal bar in 
releasing him from bail," Azizur's counsel Farzana Yasmin Rakhi told BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the order as Azizur's 
counsel moved the plea before the court.

Md Azizur Rahman, 27, was detained from Dhanmondi 32 on August 15.

Meanwhile, the interim government has sought explanation from the officer-in-
charge (OC) of Dhanmondi Police Station, asking to clear on what basis Md 
Azizur Rahman was arrested as a suspect in a case.

At the same time, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken steps to 
probe whether there are any inconsistencies in the recent activities and 
statements of the police officer, said a statement issued by the Chief 
Adviser's Press Wing today.
