Govt forms 9-member committee to look into appeals of deprived armed forces officials

DHAKA, Aug 17, 2025 (BSS) – The government has formed a nine-member committee to examine the appeals of retired armed forces officials who were reportedly deprived of promotions and service benefits during the Awami League (AL) regime.

To this end, the Ministry of Defence recently issued a notification.

Lieutenant General (Retd) Abdul Hafiz, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Defence and National Integration Development, will lead the committee.

According to the notification, the committee will review applications submitted by retired officials of the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, and Bangladesh Air Force who were deprived during the period from 2009 to August 4, 2024.

The committee is expected to complete its review within the next two months.
