DHAKA, Aug 18, 2025 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) has reinstated 85 upazila/thana election officers who were dismissed in 2007.

Senior Secretary of EC Secretariat Akhtar Ahmed today signed a notification following Presidential order in this regard.

The notification said that the election officials were reinstated according to judgment of the Supreme Court's Appellate Division and civil review appeal.

The notification said the Upazila/Thana Election Officers have been requested to submit their joining letters to the Senior Secretary of the Election Commission directly or via e-mail by August 19.

Failure to join the office on the date will be considered as not agreeing to join the service, the notification said.

The notification said the period from the date of the removal order on September 3, 2007 to the date of reinstatement will be considered as extraordinary leave.

The election officials will be entitled to receive all outstanding salaries, benefits and seniority as per the judgment of the court, it said.
