DHAKA, Aug 19, 2025 (BSS) - Kazi Shah Muzakker Ahmadul Hoque has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia to Bangladesh.

The appointment was made by Croatian President Zoran Milanovic on May 29, 2025, and formally recognized by the Government of Bangladesh through the granting of an Exequatur on Monday, said a press release here today.

In his reaction, Hoque termed the appointment "an honor and a profound responsibility," expressing hope to work for strengthening friendship, cooperation and mutual development between Bangladesh and Croatia.

Croatia, a Southeast European nation with its capital in Zagreb, is renowned for its cultural heritage and Adriatic coastline.

Since its independence in 1991, the country has joined NATO (2009), the European Union (2013), the Schengen Zone and the Eurozone (2023), while developing vibrant sectors such as tourism, IT, pharmaceuticals and shipbuilding.

The new honorary consulate is expected to further enhance bilateral relations between Dhaka and Zagreb, said the release.
