DHAKA, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today announced a week-long programme to mark its 47th founding anniversary.
In this regard, a meeting was held at the party's central office in the city's Naya Paltan.
Convener of the BNP's 47th founding anniversary celebration committee and National Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan presided over the event, while Senior Joint Secretary General and Member Secretary of the 47th founding anniversary celebration committee Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi moderated it. Other committee members were also present at the meeting.
To celebrate the founding anniversary with due solemnity, a number of programmes were unanimously approved at the meeting.
The programmes are as follows: On August 31 at 2 pm, a discussion will be held at the Engineers Institution auditorium in Ramna on the objectives and significance of the BNP's establishment. Senior party leaders and renowned intellectuals will participate in the event.
On September 1 at 6 am, the party flag will be hoisted at the BNP's central office in Naya Paltan and at party offices across the country.
On September 1 at 11 am, the party's secretary general, members of the National Standing Committee, leaders of affiliated and associate organizations, and grassroots workers will visit the mausoleum of the great proclaimer of independence, pioneer of multi-party democracy, architect of modern Bangladesh, and founder of the BNP Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. They will offer prayers and lay wreaths there. On the same day, discussions and vibrant rallies will be held in districts and Mohanagar areas across the country.
On September 2, a vibrant rally will be held in front of the central office to mark the founding anniversary.
On September 3, discussions and vibrant rallies will be held in upazilas and Paurashavas. A special supplement will be published in newspapers to commemorate the founding anniversary. Posters will also be published for the founding anniversary. A roundtable discussion on contemporary issues will be organized by the BNP.
Moreover, to mark the founding anniversary, cultural programmes, tree plantation campaigns, fish release events, free medical camps, and sports events will be held at convenient times in Dhaka and across the country.
BNP is a major political party in Bangladesh. It was founded on September 1, 1978, by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, with a view to uniting people with a nationalist ideology.
