EC conveying parties failed to get registration

DHAKA, Aug 21, 2025 (BSS)- The Election Commission (EC) has started sending letters to the political parties failed to get registration.

A total of 121 political parties failed to get registration for their failure to fulfill the terms and conditions of the commission and shortage of information, EC officials said.

Letters signed by Deputy Secretary of the EC Mahbub Alam Shah were sent to 62 political parties today and the 59 parties will get such letter within next week, officials said.

According to the EC, a total of 143 political parties applied for registration, mostly without furnishing necessary documents.

Later a total of 84 political parties submitted the required documents as instructed by the commission.

Based on the information submitted to the EC, the Commission gave primary approval to 22 political parties including the newly floated National Citizen Party (NCP).

The EC will take final decision about registration of the political parties after field investigation into the information they submitted to the commission.
