6 districts get new DCs

DHAKA, Aug 25, 2025 (BSS) - The government has appointed new Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to six districts, while DCs of Khulna, Patuakhali and Kurigram were transferred to different districts.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard today. The appointments will come into effect immediately.

"These BCS (admin) cadre officials will perform their duties as Deputy Commissioners and District Magistrates," the notification added.

Under the new appointment, Deputy Secretaries (DSs) of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry Dr Mohammad Shaheed Hossain Chowdhury posted to the DC of Patuakhali, while DC of Patuakhali Abu Hasnat Mohammad Arefin transferred to Kushtia district.

It said Sifat Mehnaj, DC of Meherpur was transferred to Kurigram as DC and District Magistrate, while Dr Mohammad Abdul Salam, Deputy Secretary of Home Affairs Ministry  made DC of Meherpur district.

The notification said Mohammad Abdullah Al Mahmood Zaman, deputy secretary, zonal settlement officer, land record and survey department, Dhaka was appointed DC of Netrokona and Md Towfiqur Rahman, DC of Kushtia, was posted Khulna as DC and district magistrate.
