Govt takes extensive programmes marking Eid-e-Miladunnabi

DHAKA, Aug 25, 2025 (BSS) -The government has taken an extensive national programmes to mark the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, the auspicious occasion commemorating the birth and death anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM).

The day will be observed across the country on September 6, the National Moon Sighting Committee confirmed on Sunday.

In preparation for the occasion, the government has finalized a colorful and Grand National program which was discussed at an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain, a press release said today.
 
The meeting was attended by Religious Secretary AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik, and Director General of the Islamic Foundation A Salam Khan along with representatives from various ministries and organizations.
The President and the Chief Adviser will deliver special messages in honor of the occasion.

Additionally, the national flag will be hoisted in all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions and private buildings, as well as military establishments across the country.

Like previous years, important areas in Dhaka will be adorned with the national flag, colorful banners and placards inscribed with 'Kalima Tayyiba'.

The Islamic Foundation (IF) has been tasked with organizing several religious and cultural events, including Qiraat (recitation of the Quran), Hamd-Naat (praise of the Prophet), poetry recitations and a Khutba writing competition in Arabic. 

IF has been asked to publish special souvenirs and organize seminars to mark the occasion.

A fortnight-long Islamic Book Fair will begin on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal at the southern end of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque here. 

The media has also been called upon to broadcast special programs on the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with special supplements publishing in national newspapers.

Educational institutions, including universities and cultural centres have been instructed to organize discussions, prayers, Milad Mahfil (religious gathering), Hamd-Naat sessions and quiz competitions over the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as well as themes of peace, progress, human rights and social harmony.

For children, the Bangladesh Shishu Academy will organize various events, including Hamd-Naat performances, essay competitions and discussion.

In keeping with the spirit of the occasion, improved diets will be served at military and civilian hospitals, prisons, Shishu Sadan, old-age homes and orphanages across the country. 

The day will also be observed with due respect in Bangladesh's embassies and missions abroad ensuring a global commemoration of this sacred event.
