DHAKA, Aug 25, 2025 (BSS) – University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Dr SMA Faiz has emphasized on continued cooperation of China for development of Bangladesh's education sector.

He said this at a reception accorded to the students who received Chinese government scholarship for their studies.

Chinese Embassy in Dhaka and the Association of Bangladesh China Alumni (ABCA) arranged the reception at the Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon in the capital here today.

Dr Faiz said the long-standing relationship between Bangladesh and China has been founded on mutual trust, respect and cooperation.

He noted that this partnership continues to strengthen day by day.

"China has not only contributed to the infrastructure and economic development of Bangladesh but also playing a pivotal role in the modernization of our education system," Dr Faiz said.

Chinese investments and cooperation have a positive impact on the development of human resources, research, technology and cultural exchange, he added.

The UGC Chairman expressed his optimism that the collaboration between Bangladesh and China in various sectors—including education, research and cultural exchange—would continue to grow, benefiting the people of the both countries.

Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of China in Bangladesh attended the event as special guest while Dr Md Sahabul Haque, General Secretary of ABCA and Professor of the Department of Political Studies at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology was in the chair.
