The four-day conference began at the BGB's Pilkhana Headquarters here, said a BGB press release.

BGB DG Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui leads the 21-member Bangladesh delegation while BSF DG Daljit Singh Chaudhary leads the 11-member Indian delegation.

In addition to senior officials of the BGB, the Bangladesh delegation includes officials from the Office of the Chief Adviser, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Shipping, the Roads Division, the Land Survey Department, the Joint Rivers Commission and the Narcotics Control Department.

The Indian delegation also includes senior officials of the BSF, officials from the Indian Home and External Affairs Ministries and the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

The conference will conclude on August 28.

This year's conference will focus on preventing border killings, push-ins and illegal infiltration, preventing smuggling of drugs, arms and ammunition and other contraband from India.

Apart from these, preventing unauthorized infrastructure construction within 150 yards of the international border, preserving the banks of the border rivers and realizing a fair share of the water of the border rivers, taking joint initiatives to implement the Integrated Border Management Plan will be prominently discussed in the conference.

Initiatives will also be taken to defuse the tension created on the border due to the recent anti-Bangladesh propaganda in the Indian media.
Bilateral issues and issues related to border interests between the two countries will be discussed.

The last BGB-BSF DG-level conference was held in Delhi in February.

In continuation of this, the BGB-BSF conference is being held in Dhaka this time.

In this conference, the BGB will prioritize the interests of the country and the people
