DHAKA, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS) - A two-day free eye camp began today at the Medical Building of the National University (NU) in Gazipur to provide essential eye care services for its teachers, officers and staff.

NU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah formally inaugurated the camp, organized by the university's Medical Services Department in association with Dhaka Eye Care Hospital, said a press release.

On the first day, ophthalmologists diagnosed and treated various eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal disorders, while also providing patients with expert guidance on advanced treatment options when needed.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Dr Amanullah underscored the importance of sound health in ensuring efficiency and productivity.

"There is no alternative to physical well-being for achieving professional excellence," he said, adding that such healthcare initiatives should be expanded further in the future.

National University Treasurer Professor Dr ATM Zafrul Azam, faculty members, administrative officials and staff were present at the inaugural ceremony.

The second and concluding day of the camp will be held on September 2, 2025.
